Friends and Family: Fun on the farm

A few months ago our book club read a very interesting book called “The Dirty Life” by Kristin Kimball.  It’s pretty much a “Green Acres” kind of tale (city girl meets country boy, falls in love, etc).

However, this story is true and is about an organic, self-sufficient farm in Connecticut.  After reading it, we were all interested enough in CSAs to do a little research into groups in our area.

My friend Anne located one just outside town (Deck Family Farm) and made an appointment for us (Anne, Carlie, Eva, and myself)  to visit with our little ones.  The kids enjoyed exploring the farm, visiting the animals (pigs, goats, and even some puppies) and running around in the fresh, country air.  It was such a fun day!
